Putty Rubber

  • Putty Rubber
  • Also known as a ‘Kneaded eraser’, putty rubbers are made from a pliable material – traditionally a linseed oil based putty – that allows artists to mould the eraser by hand into a desired shape. They are particularly useful for highlighting and detail work as they may be moulded into a fine point for precision erasing and, as they leave no ‘shavings’ or dust, can be more practical for the artist than plastic erasers.
  • Putty rubbers are made by various brands including Faber Castell, Conte a Paris and Cretacolor and are typically coloured white or grey.
